La Palma - Canary Islands

La Palma is one of the smaller Canary Islands which is becoming a popular destination for the UK market, an ideal alternative for those holidaymakers who prefer a more relaxed holiday and those who want to avoid the typical touristic resorts that neighbouring islands like Tenerife and Gran Canaria offer.

Thomson currently operate weekly flights from both London Gatwick and Manchester on a Monday to Monday turnaround [odd flight durations are currently not available].

La Palma isn't your run-of-the-mill beach resort, and unlike some of its neighbours, it isn't blessed with mile upon mile of golden sands. The coastline tends to be quite wild and rugged.  However, you'll find hideaway coves tucked away here and there, and there are some good sandy beaches too. Most of these are concentrated around Puerto Naos, Puerto de Tazacorte and Los Cancajos. All three areas offer up striking strips of black volcanic sand where you can while away a few hours in the sun. A huge benefit is that the beaches don't tend to get overly crowded.

The resort of Los Cancajos is mainly where most of the islands accommodation can be found and is frequently described as La Palma's most developed holiday resort. Popular establishments here include the Centrocancajos Apartments or the Hacienda San Jorge Aparthotel. Prices start from as little as £16.00 per person per night during May, are on a self catering basis and are based on 1 bedroom apartments for 2 people*
